Use
It is used to manage hypertension. Due to its blocking action at N-type and L type calcium channel, cilnidipine dilates both arterioles and venules, reducing the pressure in the capillary bed. Cilnidipine prevents intracellular calcium influx and results in vasodilatation.
Common Side Effect
Peripheral edema, eye pain, headache, dizziness, flushing.
Precaution
Cilnidipine is contraindicated in patients with severe aortic stenosis, cardiogenic shock, It can interact with aldesleukin, quinidine, phenytoin, rifampicin, erythromycin, other anti-hypertensive drugs and anti-psychotic drugs.

Use

Edema (swelling of arms, legs) sinus pain, congestion, headache, dizziness, nausea and allergic reactions.
Precaution
Contraindicated with medicines like Aliskiren, Digoxin, Lithium, Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Agents including Selective Cyclooxygenase-2 Inhibitors (COX-2 Inhibitors).care should be taken in diabetic patients. Avoid alcohol consumption.
